Professor Stanton Newman, Vice-President (International)

Professor Stanton Newman joined City, University of London from UCL in September 2010. In his role of Vice-President (International) he manages City’s Global engagement and partnerships and is also Chair of the World Cities University Network. From 2011-2017, Professor Newman was Dean of the City, University of London’s School of Health Sciences. In the role of Dean, he was responsible for the academic and business leadership of the School. He is a Professor of Health Psychology and a Chartered Clinical and Health Psychologist, specialising in the psychological and social issues of physical illness and its treatment. He has published over 420 research papers and chapters as well as 20 books. The focus of his work is around the management of chronic disease, the role of self-management, the introduction of technologies and in particular the impact of disease and treatment from the patients’ perspective.

Professor Andrew Stockley, Dean of the City Law School

City, University of London appointed Professor Andrew Stockley as its new Dean of the City Law School in November 2018. Prior to his appointment, Professor Stockley was the Dean of Law and member of Auckland University’s Senior Leadership Team (2011-2018). From 2006-2011, Professor Stockley was the Senior Tutor and a Fellow at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he was also a member of the Law Faculty. He undertook his doctorate at the University of Cambridge. The first part of his academic career was spent as a member of the Law Faculty at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. He is an Honorary Professor of Law at the University of Auckland and a Senior Member of Brasenose College, Oxford.

George Politis

George (Shipping, Trade and Finance, 1997) has combined experience in Shipping Management and Finance of 25 years. For the past 10 years, he is CEO at Capital Securities, a regulated global brokerage / asset management firm, member of the Athens Exchange. Prior to that, he was CEO of ANPO Shipping, a family owned ship owning/management group. He grew up in Piraeus, studied in Shipping and Finance at Southampton (BSc), Cardiff (MSc) and London/Cass (MSc), Fintech at Oxford/Said (Executive) and is studying at Singularity University. Since 2017, he is an ambassador for City, University of London.
He created the Fintech in Shipping course at Cass and is a lecturer for the MSc programmes at the Grammenos Shipping Centre.

Professor John Carlton

After 35 years within Lloyd's Register, Professor Carlton was then invited to become Professor of Marine Engineering at the City University London in which capacity he now serves and is responsible for the postgraduate maritime studies. He is also closely involved with the newly formed International Institute for Cavitation Research at the University. In 2006 he was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science for his contribution to marine technology. Professor Carlton was the 109th President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology in 2011/12 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2011.

Sophia Kallergi

Sophia (Insurance and Risk Management,1996) is a senior executive with a twenty- three years tenure in the insurance and banking. In 1996, she joined Commercial Bank of Greece, as Bancassurance Executive and set up the 1st Bancassurance model, to move into multinational environment of Alico AIG serving as Country Manager of Alternative Distribution Channels. In 2008, she joined Piraeus Bank Group as Head of Bancassurance Division with supervision of bancassurance development of Central and Eastern Europe subsidiaries. After graduating from Cass and Southbank University she has conducted scientific studies on the impact of European legislation on the development of insurance services and distribution channels. Since 2016, she has been Managing Director of Mpass Ltd. - an IT innovation development company in Greece and Russia with focus on insurance digitization and co-founder of InLab consulting firm with focus on Corporate Insurance Management.
