Description

Hosted by Dr Sionade Robinson, alumna and Vice-President (Enterprise, Engagement & Employability) at City, University of London, and Ehsan Razavizadeh, Managing Director of the London Space Innovation Centre at City, this event will feature a panel discussion on the topic of ‘New Opportunities in the Space Industry'. The discussion will be chaired by Prof David Stupples, Professor of Electronic and Radio Engineering at City. This will be followed by a Q&A where you are invited to pose your own questions to the speakers and share your views. 

This event will give you an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest news from the School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering (SMCSE) from Prof Abdulnaser Sayma, Head of Engineering and engage in an expert talk about the space industry with fellow alumni, students and academics.

Speaker profiles

Dr Jason Maroothynaden, HE Space Operations Ltd

Jason is a Business Development Manager and UK Director for HE Space Operations Ltd. He is developing the UK business for HE Space Operations, supporting our UK customers.

Jason started his career as a bio-instrumentation engineer at European Space Agency (ESA). He left the space sector and became an internationally experienced venture builder. In 2017, he came back to Europe and space and started working at ESA/ECSAT as a business broker in the ESA Space Solutions Programme. As broker, he spent a lot of time with start-ups and facilitated access to finance, particularly working in partnership with Venture Capital and Business Angel funds.
Since May 2020, Jason became HE Space’s UK Director. Recently became a member of the Royal Aeronautical Societies Space Group Committee.

With 20 years in the aerospace business and venture, his expertise covers investment, finance relations, venture growth, downstream applications, micro-gravity sciences and payload development.

Jason studied at Imperial College London, Cranfield University and finance from Oxford University.
Dr Eddie Ross, Satellite Applications Catapult

Eddie is the Knowledge Exchange Manager at the Satellite Applications Catapult, with experience in physics and astronomy, space systems engineering, and quantum technologies. At the Catapult he is responsible for facilitating knowledge transfer between academia and industry.

He is currently involved in setting up a community pursuing space photonics, as well as supporting Catapult activities In-Orbit Servicing and Manufacturing (IOSM), 5G test beds, Geospatial Intelligence, and the cross-sector uptake of space data and technology.
