City University London and Cass Business School are pleased to invite all alumni to an evening masterclass and reception in Beijing. The newly appointed Dean at Cass Professor Marianne Lewis will be delivering an interactive masterclass in Organisational Behaviour. We also have the honour of special guest Professor Liu Mingkang (Executive MBA 1987) who will deliver an address. The evening will give alumni an opportunity to reconnect with former City and Cass colleagues, participate in an engaging masterclass, learn of new developments at the University and to meet with current staff.
Masterclass: Leading through Paradox
This interactive seminar will explore barriers and tools to leading through organizational paradoxes. Conflicting yet interwoven demands challenge leaders daily, evident in pressures for profit-social responsibility, innovation-efficiency, global-local interests and beyond. A paradox approach helps shift assumptions regarding truth, scarcity and stability to explore more creative and holistic possibilities. Such leadership requires both differentiation and integration to gain deeper appreciation of opposing needs, as well as their potential synergies. This seminar will engage participants in exploring their own paradoxes, as well as those facing global business and business schools more broadly. Marianne’s expertise stems from over 20 years of award-winning research with firms ranging from Lego and Unilever to cutting-edge product design firms, now being developed within a book and Harvard Business Review article.
