Alumni Relations Team at Cass Business School is pleased to invite all alumni to an evening masterclass and reception in Toronto hosted by Professor Marianne Lewis, Dean of Cass Business School and Professor Carl Stychin, Dean of The City Law School. Professor Lewis will be delivering an interactive masterclass about Leading through Paradox.
The evening will give you an opportunity to reconnect with Cass alumni, participate in an engaging masterclass and learn of new developments at the Institution from our Deans. You are very welcome to bring a guest but please add their name at the registration.
Masterclass: Leading through Paradox
Professor Marianne W. Lewis is Dean of Cass Business School, City, University of London and is an international thought leader in the field of leadership and organisational paradoxes.
In this exclusive masterclass, she will share the power of a paradox lens. Sharpened through two decades of research, Professor Lewis will discuss how great leaders help their organisations thrive with tensions intensified by rapid change and rising complexity. How do leaders ensure that their organisations excel at disciplined efficiency for today and bold innovation that enables tomorrow? How do they deliver on financial targets to thrill their shareholders, while achieving greater social purpose that ensures sustainability? How do they build global integration and scale, as they meet diverse local needs? Rather than tradeoffs, paradoxical leaders stress synergies and learning.
Professor Lewis's work appears in leading journals as the Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Journal, and Organization Science. Her paper, “Exploring paradox: Toward a more comprehensive guide” received the Academy of Management Review Best Paper Award in 2000 and is among the most cited in the field.
