Annual Alumni Weekend in Monaco 2015

Friday 4th September - Sunday 6th September

Cass Business School is returning once more to the beautiful shores of the Côte d'Azur for the fifth Annual Alumni Weekend in Monte Carlo, Monaco. We will be welcoming Cass Alumni, supporters and friends from all over the world for another enjoyable weekend of exciting activities organised for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Itinerary

Friday 4th September

Welcome Reception at the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, 19:00 -21:00

In keeping with tradition, an informal Friday Evening Welcome Reception will be hosted by alumnus Sir Stelios Haji-Iaonnou on the private terrace of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation. Nibbles and drinks will be provided courtesy of the host and an honesty bar will be in operation to raise funds towards the Monaco Bursary Fund, proceeds of which will be awarded to a Cass MSc student who has demonstrated academic excellence and who is in in need of financial assistance. 

Dress Code: Smart-Casual

Saturday 5th September

Saturday Morning Masterclass with Dr Paolo Versa, Hotel Hermitage, 11:00 - 12:30
"Winning in hyper-competition. Strategy, innovation and performance lessons from Formula 1"

What can managers and business students learn from a hypercompetitive environment such as Formula 1? Dr Paolo Aversa, expert in strategy and business of motorsport and Formula 1, will discuss the implications for business models and managerial practice within and beyond the racetrack.

Saturday Afternoon visit to the Grimaldi Forum Summer Exhibition; From Chagall to Malevich, The Revolution of The Avant-Garde, PM

Once again Mrs Sylvie Biancheri, General Director of the Grimaldi Forum has generously offered our alumni free entry to this years’ Summer Exhibition as part of the ‘Russian Year in Monaco’ celebrations, celebrating musical, historical, artistic and sporting events related to Russian culture. The wide-ranging exhibition brings together 150 major works by great artists who from 1905 to 1930 represented the Avant-Garde movement in Russia. With works on loan from the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg to the Pompidou Centre in Paris, this collection will form a unique insight into the surge of artistic movements that stemmed from this period.

For those wishing to view the exhibition as a group, we will gather at the Hotel Hermitage at 14:00 to walk to the Grimaldi Forum. Guests are welcome to attend the exhibition throughout the weekend once they have collected their ticket. Please note tickets are free, but will need to be added to your basket when booking your place. 

Saturday Evening Reception at the Salle Belle Époque, Hotel Hermitage, 20:00

We are pleased to be hosting this reception in the beautiful setting of the Belle Époque ballroom of the Hotel Hermitage. Guests can enjoy a wonderful buffet dinner and drinks as part of the evening. The Dean of Cass Business School, Professor Steve Haberman will also highlight some of the achievements of the Business School in the past year and draw the weekend to a close.

Tickets are £70 per person and include buffet dinner and drinks.

Sunday 6th September

Visit to the Village of Eze, 10:00 - 15:00

For guests who have flights scheduled later in the day, we have organised an optional visit to the village of Eze.Eze Village

Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the production of traditional French Perfume by visiting the Fragonard Perfume Factory, which has been producing traditional French Perfumes for centuries. After a short walk, you will be able to explore the medieval village of Eze, built on a rocky peninsular overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Also included in this trip is entry to the Exotic Garden. Sheltered from winds by the Revère Mount, the site offers a truly remarkable micro-climate which ensures the growth of the garden’s fascinating plants. From its spectacular vantage point, the site offers unrivalled views to Italy, down onto the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, the Baies des Anges in Nice, and even across to St Tropez.

Tickets are priced at £30 per person, which includes transfers, tour guide and entry to both the Fragonard Perfume Factory and the Exotic Garden.
Please note that due to nature of the landscape, those with walking difficulties may find the terrain challenging.

Hotel Information

This year we will be based at the elegant Hotel Hermitage, a five star luxury hotel in the heart of Monte Carlo. We have secured preferential rates for Cass Business School alumni and guests, details of which can be found in the confirmation email once you have booked your place. Prices start from €315 per room per night, including breakfast. Sea views from €395 per room per night. You are of course welcome to make your own accommodation arrangements in Monaco if you prefer.

Further Information

In order to book your place for this event, you will need to pay a mandatory non-refundable registration fee of £35 per person. Alumni are permitted to bring one guest with them to each event, however guests must also pay a registration fee and be registered to attend each subsequent event where applicable. Registration will close at 12:00 noon on Friday 7th August 2015 or when the event(s) are sold out, whichever is sooner. No bookings can be made once all spaces are filled.
