City University of London and Cass Business School are pleased to invite alumni to an evening masterclass and networking reception in Beijing. This event - kindly supported by HSBC - is a great opportunity for alumni to find out about the latest news from around campus, engage in stimulating discussion and network with fellow alumni and University members of staff. Professor Andrew Stockley - Dean at The City Law School

City, University of London appointed Professor Andrew Stockley as its new Dean of the City Law School in November 2018. Prior to his appointment, Professor Stockley was the Dean of Law and member of Auckland University’s Senior Leadership Team (2011-2018). From 2006-2011, Professor Stockley was the Senior Tutor and a Fellow at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he was also a member of the Law Faculty. He undertook his doctorate at the University of Cambridge. The first part of his academic career was spent as a member of the Law Faculty at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. He is an Honorary Professor of Law at the University of Auckland and a Senior Member of Brasenose College, Oxford.

Professor Ian Marsh - Professor of Finance; Module Leader – International Finance at Cass Business School

Ian has worked in London as an international banker and financial market economist for the IMF and in academia. He has been with Cass since 1998, taking a leave of absence between June 2001 and September 2003 to join the Bank of England, where he managed a research team focussing on capital market issues.

Professor Liu Mingkang - Former Chairman, China Banking Regulatory Commission

Mingkang Liu served as the first Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) between March 2003 and October 2011.

Before heading the CBRC, Mr. Liu held various positions in both banking institutions and government agencies, including Chairman and President of the Bank of China (BOC), Chairman of China Everbright Group, Deputy Governor and member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China, Deputy Governor of China Development Bank, Deputy Governor of Fujian province and Secretary-General of the Fujian Provincial Government.

Mr. Liu also serves as a senior fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers. He was a member of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), vice chairman of the Standing Committee on Supervisory and Regulatory Cooperation under the FSB, a member of the Governance Body of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), and Vice Chairman of the International Institute of Finance.

He is a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Institute of Lau Chor Tak Global Economics and Finance of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is the honorary Dean of the Lingnan (University) College of Sun Yat-Sen University. He is also a Distinguished Fellow at the Fung Global Institute. Mr. Liu sits on the International Advisory Boards of the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University. He also serves as an honorary or visiting professor at a number of reputable universities.

In 2010, the CBRC and Mr. Liu himself were jointly named the Risk Manager of the year 2009 by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). In April 2012, he was granted a Lifetime Achievement Award by The Asian Banker Magazine.

Mr. Liu received an MBA degree and honorary doctorate both the City University of London.
