Description

Hosted by Dr Nikos Komninos, Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security in the Department of Computer Science at City, University of London, the event will feature a panel discussion about the future of cyber security. Our expert panel of practitioners from industry and academia will discuss cyber security threats, latest developments and trends. A lively discussion is sure to follow moderated by Dr Chris Child, Associate Dean for Employability in the Department of Computer Science at City.

This event will give you an excellent opportunity to enjoy thought-provoking talks and discussion and reconnect with fellow alumni, students, academics and industry experts.

Speaker profiles

Simon Clayton-Mitchell (Cyber Security, 2020)

Simon Clayton-Mitchell is an experienced information-security and technology professional with strong experience in the leadership and delivery of consulting assignments across a broad range of international, regulatory, and Government clients. Simon recently received an MSc in Cyber Security, with Distinction, from City, University of London.

Prior to studying for the MSc, Simon was a managing consultant with Mott MacDonald, advising clients on Telecom projects in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East where he delivered projects across a broad range of industries including: electricity utilities, telecom regulators, telecom operators, aviation, nuclear, financial investment, smart-city developments, and local and central UK Government initiatives.
Before joining Mott MacDonald, Simon was a founding member and head of product for Asia Global Crossing.

Simon has a BSc in Electronic Engineering, an MBA from LBS, and an MSc in Finance and Economic Policy from SOAS.

Dr Fauzia Idrees (Information Security, 2018)

Dr Fauzia Idrees is an Electronics engineer with her PhD in Information security Engineering and a Master’s in Information Security and Cryptology. She is the first female PhD of Pakistan's Armed Forces. She has over 24 years of work experience in the Military, industry, and academia. She is the Chief Executive Officer of her Cybersecurity venture: Cynosure Technologies. Currently, she is pursuing her MBA from Kent Business School. Before starting her MBA in September 2021, she was working as the Director of Business Incubation Centre and Cybersecurity Program Coordinator at Dawood University of Engineering and Technology. 

Fauzia is an active STEM and Cybersecurity advocate. She is the founding president of Women in STEM (WiSTEM) - a global professional network of women in STEM and Cybersecurity. She is on the advisory board of multiple international organizations including CISO Forum, Global Foundation for Cyber studies and Research and N2Women. She is among the pioneer members of Pakistan’s first National Centre of Cybersecurity. She is also collaborating with prominent international organizations working against cyber bullying and harassment.

Fauzia has received several awards in recognition of her academic and professional contributions. She is recipient of the prestigious UK Alumni award for Entrepreneurship, United Nation’s Science & Technology award, FJF’s Role Model award, Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu’s  Global Cybersecurity Advocate, Women in Analytics’s “Woman to watch in Analytics” award, Onalytica’s “Who is Who in RPA”, Chief of the Air Staff Commendations, Mehran University’s extraordinary achiever Alumni, Inteligenca’s Global Cybersecurity Woman of the year 2021 (nominee) and Top Women in Security ASEAN Region 2021 Award. She has also been featured as City University’s 5 to watch Alumni.

Ilyas Mansha – Accenture, Managing Director of Security

Ilyas’ history is dominated by helping client’s transform their security maturity. Ilyas holds a first class degree in Technology and has more than 17 years of delivering security related projects. Ilyas is a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CISM (Certified Information Security Management). As part of Accenture Security, Ilyas has worked through the complete delivery lifecycle with blue chip client organisations across financial services and critical national infrastructure. Ilyas has led Security Transformation for Banking clients, including large scale delivery to meet regulator requirements, introducing improvements to Identity and Access Management, Security Operations and Application Security. Ilyas has worked on building new services for Threat Intelligence, Incident Response and Security Testing.

Ilyas has extensive experience of setting up security organisations, teams, and security services for critical national infrastructure clients. Ilyas previously worked in sectors where availability is a key concern for clients. Ilyas has ran an extensive programme of building out a client's resilience programme for a global firm in response to an international level crisis. Ilyas has senior stakeholder management experience working with COO, CRO, CIO, CISO and executive leadership.
