Frequently Asked Questions

Alumni Relations Benefits and Services

Which databases do I have access to as an alumnus?

As an alumnus, the databases that you have remote access to are Business Source Alumni and Emerald Insight. To access, please log-in or join the Cass Alumni Online Community. Membership takes up to 48 hours to process. You can also access Bloomberg, Eikon, JSTOR and Marketline at the Cyril Kleinwort Learning Centre at Cass. Note that access is for non-commercial purposes only. You will find more information on our Library databases page.

How do I get an alumni card?

Please email your name, course, graduation year, phone number and home mailing address to cass-alumni@city.ac.uk and allow one week for processing and posting.

Do you offer email forwarding?

We do offer an email forwarding service that you can set up, but please note that this function does not forward emails sent to your student e-mail address. This service allows you to choose an email address with the domain ‘@cassalumni.city.ac.uk’. You will then be asked to provide the address of the personal email account where forwarded messages will be directed. So whenever anyone sends mail to your ‘@cassalumni.city.ac.uk’ it will automatically be sent straight to your selected personal account. Please note that the email forwarding service is not an inbox in itself and reply messages are from your personal account not your '@cassalumni.city.ac.uk' account.

To set up an email forwarding service; first log-in to the Cass Alumni Online Community. Click ‘My Cass Community’ under Contents and select ‘Email Forwarding’ and fill out the relevant information on the E-mail Forwarding page to set it up.

I want to get in contact with alumni in ‘x’ industry/’x’ company/’x’ country. How can I do so?

Due to the Data Protection Act, we do not give out any personal information of our alumni.

For your search efforts, we would suggest that you sign-up for our Cass Alumni Online Community. Once you are registered, you can find alumni in the online directory and also become a volunteer for Ask Alumni. The online alumni directory is for a general search and Ask Alumni is a service that will allow you to search over 1,000 alumni who have offered to provide career advice. While you can’t directly see an individual’s name in Ask Alumni, you can search by specialty and field and then can send an e-mail with your specific enquiry to any individual whose profile fits your needs.

Also, we recommend that you become a member of our official Cass Alumni LinkedIn group. This resource is another great method to search for fellow alumni.

We encourage you to also visit our Cass International Alumni groups web page. Here, you can find the contact information for volunteers in over 40 countries who can assist you with keeping in touch with our global alumni network.

Please visit our Library page for full information. Alumni can become library members at Cass and City on the following terms:

£30 per year gives borrowing (5 loans at a time) and reference facilities; FREE for reference only. This compares with rates of £150 and £100 respectively for those with no City University connection. Please note that in either case, the deal does not include access to specialist electronic resources, which under the terms of academic licences are limited to City's registered students and employed staff only. These now include the majority of journal subscriptions. There is no use of computing facilities.

If you wish join the library, you will first need an alumni card. If you do not have an alumni card, please email your name, course and year of graduation, and home mailing address to cass-alumni@city.ac.uk. Please present your alumni card at the library where you will then be asked to complete some paperwork and membership can then be activated about a week later.
