Description

Hosted by Dr Byung-Gak Son, Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Bayes Business School, this event will feature an in conversation discussion with Alain Li (Economics and Accountancy, 1981) CEO for the Asia-Pacific region of luxury goods powerhouse Richemont, on the lessons learned from the impact of a global pandemic on supply chain management. Richemont works with brands such as Cartier, Chloé and Mont Blanc. 

This will be followed by a Q&A where you are invited to pose your own questions to the speakers and share your views.

Speaker Profiles

 

Paolo


Professor Paolo Volpin is Dean of Bayes Business School and a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a Research Associate of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). Prior to joining Bayes Business School, he was an Associate Professor of Finance at the London Business School.

He has published on the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Review of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Economic Perspectives and other journals. His research in corporate finance, especially in the field of corporate governance, has won several awards. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Political Economy from Bocconi University.

 

As Regional Chief Executive, Asia Pacific of Richemont, Alain Li is responsible for overseeing and cultivating the presence and development of some of the world's most coveted luxury Maisons in the region. 

Alain has a wealth of experience in general management, business development and international finance, gained through a series of senior positions at various multinational corporations in diverse sectors from pharmaceuticals to consumer electronics. Alain started his career in the UK and had lived and worked in Japan and France before returning to Hong Kong in 2001. 

Alain holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Accountancy from City University of London, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. 

Alain serves as President of the Luxury and Retail Committee of the French Chamber of Commerce and on the Asia Advisory Board of Phillips, the auctioneers. 

 



Dr Byung-Gak Son is a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Bayes Business School. His research interests are Supply Chain Partnership, Supply Chain Risk Management, and Offshoring and Outsourcing. Currently his research is more focused on Managing Risks in Extended Supply Chain. His consultancy work includes the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affair and The Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency.
