Welcome to the professional development section of City's online community.

The Career and Skills Development Service is an additional benefit available to recent graduates i.e. those who graduated in the past three years. This service includes:

• Appointments by phone or face-to-face with a career consultant. If you're thinking about further study, our Careers Consultants can help you explore your options and help with your personal statement. Some schools  offer discounts off postgraduate courses to alumni.
• Mock interviews and assessments with a career consultant or employer (where available). These are available in person or over the phone, which is great if you are no longer based locally.
• CV and application form checking. Receive feedback on your CV, cover letter or an application by booking online one of our daily 20 minute appointments.
• Psychometric testing sessions
• Events and activities throughout the year where you can meet employers and develop your job search skills.
• Careers fairs that will help you to find out jobs that are not yet widely advertised
• Vacancy board which is fully accessible when registering with the CareersHub. See details of part-time and temporary jobs, internships, graduate jobs, graduate roles and other placements from organisations keen to employ City graduates.
• Going Global, a service that provides over 80,000 pages of country-specific career and employment information if you are looking for jobs abroad. To access this service please contact the Careers Centre for the Username and Password. You will need to confirm your status as a City alumnus to receive access so please have your Student or Alumni Number to hand.
• Access to volunteering opportunities. Volunteering gives you work experience that you can include on your CV. It also helps you to learn new skills (or develop existing ones), make an impact in your community or simply support interesting projects.
