Description 

All alumni are warmly invited to attend the Annual London Reunion, 2014. The afternoon will include a speech from the Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Curran on developments taking place at the University, some optional school-based activities and the opportunity to catch-up with former classmates from your time at City. The event will conclude with some refreshments courtesy of the University.

Our Enterprise Office will also be speaking about how they help our alumni who are setting up their own business and you can hear from a couple of alumni entrepreneurs about their experience.  If you are an entrepreneurial alumnus and would like us to include information on your business in the Enterprise section, please contact us on alumni@city.ac.uk.

Another new feature this year will be Memory Corner where we will be interviewing alumni on video about their time at City so that we can build an archive for our website.  We would like to talk to alumni from across the decades and from all Schools as we would like to have a representation of the changing nature of education at City over the decades.

Activities

Experience the variety of the arts and social sciences
Professor Peter Ayton, Deputy Dean of the School of Social Sciences will welcome alumni to the school. Professor Jean K Chalaby, Head of Sociology will then talk about the cultural significance of the €3.1 billion per annum TV format industry adapting shows like The X Factor for local audiences. Professor Ronen Palan, Professor of International Politics then examines where concepts of a fair, economically stable and politically legitimate society stand after US$50 trillion of global wealth was wiped out in just two years by the Global Financial Crisis. 

Learn about the latest development at the Business School
Professor Steve Haberman, Dean of Cass Business School, will give a talk on developments in the School. There will then be the opportunity to speak to representatives from various areas of the school including Executive Education, the Alumni Office and Corporate Development.

Explore the new Clinical Skills Centre
Professor Stanton Newman will give a short talk on the School of Health Sciences where he will highlight some of the innovative research activity in the School and discuss the establishment of the new research centres. This will be followed by a tour of the new Clinical Skills Centre for those interested. There will be an opportunity to speak to representatives of the different areas of the School including Nursing, Midwifery, Radiography, Optometry, Language and Communication Science, Health Services Research, Health Management, Health Policy and Public Health. 

Discover the exciting new resources available to our Law students
Law Librarian Emily Allbon with show guests the Law Library and talk about the online resource Lawbore. Lawbore is an online resource created for City Law students but used nationally too - featuring news, interviews and articles, as well as multimedia guides to help students with mooting, legal research and their future career.

Introducing the new School of Mathematics, Computer Sciences & Engineering
Professor Roger Crouch, the Dean of the School of Mathematics, Computer Sciences & Engineering will lead a tour of the new laboratory facilities, where senior staff of the Engineering departments will also be present. Professor Crouch will finish the tour with a short presentation on the recent achievements of the School and its future direction.

Enterprise Showcase
This year for the first time, our Enterprise Office is giving you the opportunity to find out about our very own entrepreneurial alumni, a few of which will be sharing their experiences on the day. The department will also be sharing their expertise on how they are helping City alumni establish their own businesses.
